Q: What does the rebate cover on a 1KW Solar Energy system?
A: $8000 will be paid to you from a fund set up by the Federal
Government. It is a limited fund, so the opportunity exists now to
take advantage of it right now and purchase a solar power renewable
energy system.
Q: What is a "REC"?
A: They are a renewable energy certificate that are worth up
to $44 per "rec". You will receive approx
20 recs per KW dependent on your postcode. Under the system you
are encouraged to generate renewable energy and
sell back the excess to your utility. While rebates and rates
vary, you may be paid up to $860
per 1 KW system.
Q: How does the feed in tariff work?
A: You are now paid 44 cents per KW (up from 15cents per KW) for the
power you "feed in" the the power network. It will appear as
a credit on your electricity bill. There are conditions,
such as the installation being completed by an accredited
installer. Under the arrangement you will have another meter
installed which records the amount of power
running backwards in the power network. Savings on your electricity
bill can be as high as 25% per year based upon on a 1 KW system.
Q: What paperwork is required?
A1: "Residential application for pre approval".
This will be filled out for you once the deposit is paid and
sent to Canberra with
relevant ID (car licence, rates notice).
A2: "Residential installation report". This will be filled out by
the BSCE accredited installer once the system is in place.
A3:" Application to Network connect Photovoltaic Generator". This is
filled out to enable system to be connected to the grid so you can start producing
renewable
energy and to reduce your carbon footprint.
Q: How do I get advice on what size system I require and if
my house will be suitable?
A: Call Absorbed Power Solar on free call 1300 303
498 or complete our enquiry form to arrange a Solar consultant
to inspect your property and advise on the best system
for your home.
This consultation is free of charge.
Q: Will these add value to my house?
A: Yes. The rebate scheme and "recs" save you money on the initial
investment and you will also be reducing
your electricity bill substantially. The tariff is now 44
cents net. This is a guaranteed return for 20 years and adds value
to your property.
Q: What if I rent my house out?
A: As the tenants of your property will be saving up to $15.00 a week on their
electricity bill, you are in a position to ask for a higher rental fee.
Q: What is the warranty on the system?
A: Yes. The Kyocera panels come with a 20 year warranty which
is transferable to the new owner should you sell your property.
Q: What are solar panels made of?
A: Polycrystalline (Blue Technology). It has the highest
output for the smallest panel up to 18.5 percent efficiency.
Q: Is electricity going to get more expensive
A: Yes. There is a prediction the electricity tariffs may increase
by around 30% in the near future. It is generally acknowledged
that the Australia power generation infrastructure requires
massive upgrade and a large investment. In addition, the federal
government's commitment to Kyoto requires utilities to find
alternates to brown coal by 2020.
